Hello! It's been a while
How's life treating everyone? Personally, I've been busy; busy, but happy
I haven't posted anything on here in a while, mostly because most of what I've been drawing has been either practice sketches or for a personal project of mine. I've been doing a lot of figurative sketches and have been practicing anatomy. I got this great book entitled 'Classic Human Anatomy: the Artist's Guide to Form, Function, and Movement' by Valerie L. Winslow. I highly recommend it as it has lots of pictures and is very practical for artists. It doesn't bog you down with pages upon pages of medical book esque diction. I might upload some of my sketches in the future. Maybe even a collage of them.
Also, I have a full time job now and have earned my drivers licence! I work in a factory packaging tortillas and chips :3 I rather like it for the most part. Plus, I get plenty of opportunities to work on my sketches during breaks
Another thing I've been up to is reading. I haven't been very tempted to read much in the recent past due to a reading stutter I've been struggling with. I wanted to, but it got frustrating after only a short period and kind of didn't try too much after that.
A little over a year ago, one of my best friends published her first book; a book of fantasy entitled 'Dissonance'. I got my copy shortly after it came out but only just finished it. thought of this as a good opportunity to pick up reading again. Even if it took me a long time, I was determined to finish it. Seeing as it was a friend who wrote it, it gave me a bit of motivation to stick it out; to see what kind of world she weaved. I enjoyed the story very much and grew very fond of the characters.
Here's the plot as written on the back of the book...
"Fifteen-year-old singer Allie Grant lives crippled by her illness. Though kept in isolation, she’s never alone: A spirit named Song lurks in the silence of her bedroom.
When Song reveals its dark nature on the night of her recital, the show ends in tragedy. Verging on death, Allie’s taken in by an uncle she’s never met. Julian claims to be a Muse with power over music and answers that’ll heal her.
It isn’t long before Allie suspects her uncle has a secret that’ll change her very identity. But with days left to live, she might fade without learning the truth…like the finishing chord of a song."
Since finishing this book, my experience with reading books has greatly improved. So, in a little way, this book has been a bit healing in that way and for that I am grateful
So, in order to spread awareness for this book (and the future sequels), I'm going to start a fan art series, introducing you to the characters and presenting my visual interpretation of them
Here's a link to the amazon page for more information on the book...www.amazon.com/Dissonance-Fall…
Update (10/12/16): The next book is out!! It's entitled, 'Serenade'. It's available on Kindle...www.amazon.com/Serenade-Fallen…
Hard copies coming soon!
Also, if you feel so inclined, hit me up with some book suggestions as I am looking for more books to try out!
Nothing too long or heavy at the moment since I consider myself a very light weight reader for the time being ^-^
I have a special place in my heart for fantasy, and I like styles of writing that are concise in their execution.
400 pages at the most is preferable. 300 is more doable but it depends on how easy of a read it is for me.
Nothing sexually explicit, overly violent, or occult please.
Have a nice day everyone! Thanks for sticking around
Congratulations on earning a likable full time job and your driver's license! Good luck to your friend who debuted. So far, there are good Amazon reviews for her. I'll try to convince a librarian to purchase a copy for the library. Also, I would be glad to see those sketches uploaded.
